ADOLESCENT and ADULT PROGRAMS

Thank you for your interest in the adolescent and adult programs offered at the Spectrum Center . Since1992, the Spectrum Center has been improving the lives of children and adults by providing a broad spectrum of therapeutic services for persons with disorders of sensory integration (SI), central auditory processing (CAP), attention deficit and hyperactivity (ADHD), as well as for individuals with organizational difficulties and behavioral and mood disorders.

The Spectrum Center employs the Tomatis Method of auditory stimulation in its therapeutic approach. We were the first center in North America to combine occupational therapy, sensory integration, and the Tomatis Method, and our unique approach has had phenomenal results. In 2003 we launched an expanded adolescent and adult program with ongoing groups throughout the day and evening in space designed for the adolescent and adult population.

What We Do: Individualized Programs
An initial in-depth assessment is followed by a consultation to discuss results and recommendations. If a person is considered an appropriate candidate, an individualized program is designed. Treatment begins with a 15–day intensive (2 hours each day), followed by two 8–day intensives, with a 3–4 week break between intensives, allowing for a period of integration. Clients listen to electronically filtered sounds of music and voice, which replicate the main phases of listening and communication development, while taking part in sensory integrative activities.Daily observations, weekly assessments, and counseling by a licensed social worker and a licensedoccupational therapist are important parts of the program.
